Biography

Epha E. Edmundson, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.

She was born December 18, 1920, in Wichita, KS, the daughter of the late Jesse W. and Anna E. (Hefner) Marcum. On March 25, 1940, she married Sammie McBain, who died on July 18, 1969. On November 11, 1977, she married Karl Garry Edmundson, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Edmundson moved to Sedalia as a teenager and lived here most of her life. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Democrat Club, Pettis County Chapter #279 of Order of the Eastern Star, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 591, National American Association of Retired Persons, National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association. She was a hairdresser in Sedalia since 1937. She worked at Tish’s Beauty Salon and later owned Epha’s Beauty Shop.

She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Mary Alice McBain, of Kearney; five grandchildren, Allen Deuschle (Lori), Andy Deuschle, Kelly McBain Parker (Mike), Suzanne McBain Cronkhite (Troy) and Michael McBain (Leticia); six great-grandchildren, Lucas and Riley Parker, Melany, Jeremy and Addison Cronkhite and Lauren McBain.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Eugene McBain.

It was Mrs. Edmundson’s wishes to gift her body to the University of Missouri School of Medicine for education and science.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Friday, July 20, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The American Heart Association in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
