Biography

Laura R. Jones, 81, of Sedalia, died Monday, June 18, 2012, at her home.

She was born August 7, 1930, in Sedalia, the first of eight children to the late Charles J. and Rose A. (Weller) Bahner. On October 17, 1964, in Independence, she married Lester Earl Jones, Jr., who preceded her in death on February 28, 1987.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church. She loved gardening. She was an excellent cook and was known for her award-winning cherry pie. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Richard St. Cyr, of Sedalia, and Jerry St. Cyr (Miko), of Korea; four daughters, Debbie Fairfax (Tom), of Dunksburg, Julie Hopper, of O’Fallon, Colette St. Cyr, of Jefferson City, and Kay Keele, of Sedalia; three brothers, Charles Bahner (Pat), and Robert Bahner (Pam), of Smithton, and David Bahner (Beth), of Lee’s Summit; four sisters, Lillian Rehmer (Rudy), of Smithton, Ida Mae Woolery, of Sedalia, Eileen Kitzmiller (Pete), of Dunedin, FL, and Mary Arnett (Carl, Jr.), of LaMonte; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Jones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Friday, June 22, 2012, at St. Patrick Church with Fr. James Betzen, C.PP.S. officiating. Pallbearers will be Travis St. Cyr, Jimmy Fairfax, Charlie Jon Christiansen, Lance Hopper, Tom Ryan and Pepper Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Hopper, Bill Lehman, Nathan St. Cyr and Alex St. Cyr. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 6 pm Thursday, June 21, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with visitation to follow until 8 pm.

Memorial contributions are suggested to The American Diabetes Association in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
