Biography
Emma Jean Scott, 87, of Sedalia, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born March 12, 1925, in Sedalia, a daughter of the late Guy and Laura Belle (Lane) Brownfield. On June 13, 1942, in Warrensburg, she married Steve Scott, who died November 2, 1977.
She was raised and educated in Sedalia. She served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pettis County Fire Protection District from 1977-1990. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her yard, flower and vegetable gardening. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandson and great-grandson. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by two children, Stephanie Litz, and her husband, Buddy, of Gulfport, MS, and Doug Scott, of Sedalia; a grandson, Josh Pummill, and his wife, Jen, of Effingham, IL; a great-grandson, Brayden Pummill; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Stephen Paul Scott, Nancy Jean Scott and Shirley Jean Scott; two brothers, Joe Brownfield and Emmett Brownfield; and three sisters, Fern Louise Bottcher, Lillian Wells and Shirley A. Hawkins.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Allcorn officiating. Pallbearers will be Buddy Litz, Stephanie Litz, Doug Scott, Norman Bottcher, Bob Bohon and Tim Busker. Honorary pallbearers will be Anita Busker, Janie Bohon, David Goodman and Paul Busker. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
