Biography

Mary E. Bivins, 91, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born July 6, 1919, in Elmdale, KS, a daughter of H.A. and Mamie G. (Harris) Hazel. On January 2, 1969, in Kansas City, MO, she married Doyle E. Bivins, who died December 15, 1995.

She moved to Otterville from Chase County, KS, in 1933. She then moved to Sedalia and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1939. She was a member of Unity of Sedalia and a 50 year member of Rosicrucian Order A.M.O.R.C. of San Jose, CA.

Surviving are two step-children, Robert Bivins, and his wife, Donna, of Ava, IL, and Nancy Huck, and her husband, Jerry, of Waterloo, IL; two nieces, Cythia Besser, of Kansas City, MO, and Angela Liese, Higginsville; caregiver and friend, Brenda Parker; and lifelong friend, Norabelle Bottom, both of Sedalia.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, followed by a Celebration of Mary’s Life at 7 p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Blind of Central Missouri.
