Life Legacy


Robert Charles Wingerter, 74, of Sedalia, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at his home.

He was born July 10, 1930, a son of Lenus and Eleanor Braun Wingerter. On Sept. 25, 1954, in Prairie du Rocher, Ill., he was married to Lois Brown, who survives of the home.

Mr. Wingerter was raised and educated in Chester, Ill. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Chester High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia. Mr. Wingerter was a Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW. Post 2591, and worked for many years at Town and Country Shoes in Sedalia as a pattern engineer and supervisor.

Also surviving are his mother, of Perryville; three sons, Michael Wingerter and Joseph Wingerter, both of Sedalia, and David Wingerter, of Springfield; two daughters, Susan Goosen, of Cole Camp, and Amy Carr, of Sedalia; three brothers, William Wingerter, of Perryville, Donald Wingerter, of Chester Ill., and Thomas Wingerter, of Sparta, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Cummins, of Ballwin, and Margaret Morgan, of Evansville, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father in 1977; and a brother, James Wingerter, in 1996.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Vincent Hoying officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by VFW. Post 2591.

Pallbearers will be Donald Wingerter Jr., John Wingerter, Rob Wingerter, William Wingerter Jr., Terry Romay, and Tim Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Doiron Jr., John Morgan, Chris Morgan, Kevin Morgan, Shaun Cummins, and Phillip Wingerter.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., with visitation to follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Regional Health Center Hospice or the Sacred Heart Foundation, in care of the funeral chapel.
