Life Legacy
Maria Opal Neff, 103, of Sedalia, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Fair View Nursing Home.
She was born December 13, 1902, in Revilla, South Dakota , the daughter of Joseph L. and Nellie I. Parrish Meyer.
As a child, she lived in Arkansas and southern Missouri. She later lived in Marshall. She graduated from the Academy Notre Dame de Sion conducted by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion from Paris, France. For more then thirty years Ms. Neff operated the abstract office in the Saline County Courthouse in Marshall. She and her sister, Zelma Ballenger, moved to Sedalia in October 1971. Ms. Neff was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Altar Society. She and her sister donated their home at 224 S. Vermont Ave. to Sacred Heart Church. Ms. Neff was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Zelma Ann Ballinger in 1995.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Vince Hoying officiating. Pallbearers will be Thomas T. Keating, Dr. Robert Linsenbardt, Arthur Chancellor, James Piatt, Scott Linsenbardt, and Jim Boyer. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall.
A Rosary and Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel until service time.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
