Life Legacy

Dorothy M. Labus, age 63, of Sedalia, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at her home.

She was born August 30, 1938, in Sedalia, a daughter of Emmett and Anna May ''Tootie'' Ferguson Bohon. In 1958 in Sedalia, she was married to James S. Swafford, who died in 1963. On May 7, 1966, in Sedalia, she was married to James A. Labus, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Labus was a 1956 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She worked for Inter-State Studios. She was also a teller at Third National Bank for 24 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors also include five sons, James S. Swafford of Ozark,Missouri, Douglas A. Swafford of Overland Park, Kansas, Steven B. Swafford of Sedalia, Scott C. Swafford of Columbia, Missouri and Jay A. Labus of Sedalia; four sisters, Linda Gerke of Sedalia, Margaret Ray of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Mary Ware of the state of California and Ruth Thurman of Ozark; three brothers, Bill Bohon of Independence, Missouri, John Bohon of the state of Minnesota and Bob Bohon of Manassas, Viriginia; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Della Krause.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May22, 2002, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Jack Behen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hugh Walker, Bob McDonald, Jim Mathewson, John Menefee, Bob Mason and C.R. Broyles.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the visitation will follow.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart School Foundation or the Children's Therapy Center in care of the funeral home.
