Life Legacy


Catherine Rose Cole, 85, of Sedalia, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born March 22, 1921, in Sedalia, the daughter of Calvin L. and Rosa Flippin Busker. On August 28, 1943, in Sedalia, she was married to Richard Cornelius Cole, who preceded her in death on November 27, 1998.

Mrs. Cole was raised and educated in Sedalia. She was a homemaker. She was a Den Mother and Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of Whittier Elementary School PTA. She was a member of the Sedalia Rod and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Cole graciously gave of her time as a Grey Lady at Bothwell Hospital. She was also a member of Laureate Beta Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for over 31 years, and had become a lifetime member and received the Order of the Rose. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed the fellowship and sisterhood of her sorority. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are a son, Richard Dean Cole and his wife Patty, of Mexico, MO; a daughter, Bonnie Christian and her husband Gary, of Sedalia; 5 grandchildren, Richard Arnett, Andy Ira, Robin Arnett, Ashly Wunderlich and Scott Ira; and 5 great-grandchildren, Brianne Arnett, Cory Arnett, Cole Gibson, Emma Wunderlich and Haiden Ira.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Busker and Virgil Busker; and five sisters, Opal Higgins, Bertha Shepard, Mable Ransdell, Helen Lawson and Betty Slocum.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2006, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Campbell officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Laureate Beta Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beta Sigma Phi Endowment Fund, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
