Life Legacy
Adeline Selma Jeffries, 90, of Warrensburg, formerly of Sedalia, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.
She was born May 17, 1917, in Sedalia, the daughter of Adolf and Clara Holtzen. She was the beloved wife of J. Palmer Jeffries for 53 years before his death in 1992.
Mrs. Jeffries was raised and educated in Sedalia and was a 1934 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She lived in Liberty, MO for over 50 years before returning to the Sedalia area in recent years. She was an artist working in oils and had many art shows in the Kansas City area featuring her still life, portraits and landscape paintings. Adie spent a lifetime giving of herself and her talents to a variety of community services in Liberty, MO. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Liberty where as an elder she served on various committees including the Shepherding Committee. Adie will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her loving family and dear friends. She was both witty and wise and a wonderful example to all.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Spotts and Helen Atkinson; and a brother, Robert “Bob” Holtzen.
Private graveside services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery at a later date.
The family wishes to extend their enormous gratitude to Stoney Ridge Village, Warrensburg Manor Care Center and Crossroads Hospice for their care and support.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, or the Shepherding Committee, First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
