Life Legacy
E.O. “Jack” Pasley, age 99, of Sedalia, died Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Fair View Nursing Home.
He was born in Sioux Falls, SD, May 20, 1910, a son of Otha and Marie (Seidl) Pasley. On November 12, 1932, at First Christian Church in Sedalia, he married G. Arline Laipple, who died May 4, 1978.
Jack was raised and educated in Sedalia. He was a 1929 graduate of Smith Cotton High School and attended Sedalia Business College. He worked as an accountant for Stanley Coal Company, which he later purchased and changed the name to Stanley Heating and Air Conditioning. He closed the business and worked at Cash Hardware for several years. He was a member of First Christian Church for over 70 years and served on the boards of the Read Apartments, and Liberty & Tambo Apartments. He was an American Red Cross volunteer at Bothwell Regional Health Center for 19 years and also served on the board of the Red Cross. He served on the TPA board as well as doing volunteer work for United Way, Habitat for Humanity & Open Door Food Pantry. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #236 for 78 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and he loved to dance.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Neher, of Sedalia, and Linda Clift, and her husband, Lyle, of Pueblo, CO; two grandchildren, Lynnie Clift and Dana Coty; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and special friend, Viola Hiatt. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Harry Pasley; and two sisters, Eva Morton and Isabelle Crouch.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at First Christian Church with the Rev. Matthew Keith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Lyles, Bill Long, Norman Morton, Tom Cooper, Bob Werner and Bob Schulz.
Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kokendoffer Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
